I love butter! And I love Butter Avenue!

People who know me, know that I love butter. During the early stages of our relationship, Kevin took me to Lobster Royale for dinner. I think I scared him with the amount of butter I ate with my lobster. I dunked the entire piece lobster meat into the melted butter, and quickly transported it into my mouth before the melted butter can drip (waste) on the table or plate. Yum!!!

Anyways, so one day I was talking with my brother, and he asked me whether I’ve tried macaron’s before. I have. Once. And I loved them!!!! It is too bad they are so damn expensive!!! I am not even going to try to bake them myself, because I heard that making macarons is mostly about technique, rather than just a standard recipe.  And macarons are not macarons without those nice little ‘foot’ around each.

So when I told my brother that I loved them, he said that one of his friend is opening up a cafe that sells the macarons that his sister makes. AND he gave my brother some macarons so he can give feedback on the taste, texture and colour. FOR FREE!

I was so jealous that my brother told me that on the next batch, he would invite me out to taste them too.

It turned out that I knew my brother’s friend, Calvin. The Taiwanese circle in Toronto is just too small. Every time I meet a new Taiwanese, they either know my brother (lol) or I’ve seen them before somewhere at a friend’s party. There’s always a connection somehow.

When my brother sent me a text to invite me out for lunch with him and Calvin, and he is going to bring some macarons for me to try, I can’t say that I wasn’t excited!

I couldn’t help but take some photos of these perfect little macarons. The colours were so amazing and the taste oh-so-delicious. You really taste the distinctive flours of each one! The Butter Avenue Pâtisserie & Café is not opened yet, but if you want some quality macarons after looking at my photos, you can always order them online for now!

Enjoy the photos! I sure enjoyed eating them! 🙂
